Pump hire & Dewatering

We offer immediate pump hire, single-stage & multistage well-pointing systems, deep well dewatering systems, diesel-powered centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, submersible sewage pumps, medium and high heat pumps, and a broad range of dewatering accessories.

Dewatering is the removal of water from solid material or soil through centrifugation, filtration, or similar solid-liquid separation processes. Dewatering is the accepted term used to describe the removal or draining of groundwater or surface water from a construction environment by pumping or evaporation. Within a construction site, dewatering may be implemented before subsurface excavation (for foundations, shoring, or cellar space) to lower the water table. The use of submersible "dewatering" pumps, centrifugal pumps, educators, or engagement of vacuum to well points submerged in the ground.

Construction of buildings, power stations, ports, and many other major structures requires significant below-water table excavation into water-bearing soils. EMBARK dewatering solutions for these such excavations require the controlled lowering of the water level below the slopes and bottom of the excavation to ensure dry, firm working conditions are maintained for productive construction operations. We control groundwater through several forms of dewatering systems selected based on the size and depth of the proposed excavation, geological conditions, and characteristics of the soil. Construction sites are dewatered for the following reasons:

  • Provide a suitable working surface for the bottom of the excavation.
  • Stabilize the banks of the excavation thus avoiding the hazards of slides and sloughing.
  • Prevent disturbance of the soil at the bottom of the excavation caused by boils or piping.

Lowering the water level also increases the effective weight of the soil and consolidates the soil layers. Reducing lateral loads on sheeting and bracing is another way of use. A few dewatering methods are available for controlling the inflow of water into an excavation; the choice of method will depend on the nature and permeability of the ground, the extent of the area to be dewatered, the depth of the water table below ground level and the amount by which it must be lowered, the proposed methods of excavation and ground support, the proximity of existing structures, the proximity of water courses, etc. EMBARK offers free, no obligation, site surveys and quotations for all aspects of dewatering and groundwater control taking into account all these site variables.

Our powerful EMBARK dewatering pumps and proven services ensure we can control and remove subsurface water quickly and effectively. Our dewatering and groundwater control resources and capabilities have been tried and tested for many years in the most severe climatic and saline water conditions within the Middle East. Typical dewatering pump applications include pit dewatering and general dewatering, lowering the water table, all general pumping requirements, and applications, building and construction sites, civil engineering projects, water utility companies, the local municipality works, flood disaster recovery, load-out stabilization, slurry transfer, ash handling, water boosting and pipeline filling and testing.

The Pumps range of robust and highly reliable centrifugal pumps are designed for handling high volumes of water. Our centrifugal pumps convert the input power to kinetic energy in the liquid by accelerating the liquid with an impeller. A vacuum is created at the impeller's eye which continuously draws water into the centrifugal pump. Water enters the pump through the eye of the impeller which rotates at high speed. This water is then accelerated radially outward from the pump chasing. Centrifugal pumps are used for large discharges through smaller heads. The centrifugal pumps available from Sykes Pumps are fully automatic and dry priming.

The range of submersible drainer pumps is also ideal for dewatering at all kinds of construction sites. Their simple handling and unrivaled capacity make them ideal for many grounds water control and industrial applications. EMBARK's Submersible Drainer pumps range from 50mm to 200mm in diameter. The volume of material submersible drainer pumps will move depending on the application and size of the pump and the material content. Pumped units for drainage, sludge, and more are one of the best pumps available. With Pumped, we have established a range of submersible pumps to meet the demanding requirements of UAE and Gulf State customers, lifting water from great depths and lowering the water table efficiently. These pumps are specific and combine reliability with excellent serviceability, resulting in an unrivaled operating economy. They consistently deliver hours of unattended operation in even the harshest environments.

When suction lift requirements exceed nine meters for diesel-driven pump sets and there is a high solids content within the liquid, the ideal dewatering solution is using a hydraulically driven submersible pump (centrifugal pump driven by an integral hydraulic motor). The exceptional Sepax range of pumps is available from EMBARK's Pumps only.

PUMP HIRE & DEWATERING SERVICES

In very simple terms, dewatering is the process that removes fluid from the soil. In the construction and mining industries, dewatering pumps can be used for the removal of groundwater, or surface water, to lower the groundwater level. The operation is safer for the workers and more efficient using these dewatering pumps, thus proving them efficient and effective. The compact and robust design combines low weight with high capacity and high abrasion resistance for efficient handling of dirty water.

The type of dewatering pump used depends on what media you are going to pump. If you need to remove water with abrasives, then you use a drainage pump with a strainer that prevents bigger stones to enter the pump. If you want to remove water with solids, then the dewatering sludge pump is the best choice. Whether you work in mining, tunneling, or construction, the pumps here are your best insurance against water-related downtime.

Dewatering pumps usually involve the process of moving water from A to B, commonly used in sewer bypassing or for flood control.

Drainage Pumps

Submersible drainage pumps are suitable for a broad range of applications from construction sites to dewatering quarries and mines, tunneling, and many industrial applications. Designed specifically to handle different operating conditions they incorporate unique features and are ideal for any nuisance water or dewatering applications.

The Pump Supplies fleet consists of predominantly the traditional Flynt Bubo range and varies in size from small 0.4kW units right up to 90kW pumps.

Sewage Pumps

Sewage Pumps offer both extensive performance coverage and a wide user base. Primarily used for wastewater in pumping stations and treatment works, they can also be used for Industrial, flood relief, and process applications.

Available in several configurations up to 250kW, with various types of installation and impeller options, each is individually designed to suit a vast range of duties and applications.

The Pump Supplies sewage pump of choice is the Flynt N & C pump, widely used by all the UK water authorities. The fleet contains a range of Explosion Proof approved models, from 2kW to 250kW.

Grinder & Chopper Pumps

Grinder pumps are ideal for handling solids-bearing liquids in residential and commercial applications. Engineered to meet the rigors of wastewater systems, grinder pumps feature a unique impeller for optimum hydraulic performance, which acts as a heavy-duty cutting device that grinds solids for easy transport through small bore pipes thereby eliminating the risk of clogging.

Chopper pumps are ideal for applications containing fibrous materials, combining a hard iron impeller with a cutter ring to enable the chopping and passing of materials. The most common applications for these pumps are in agriculture and problematic sewage stations in which a large number of rags and other materials are found.

The Pump Supplies fleet contains the Flynt range of Grinder and Chopper pumps, with many of our N pump fleet also available as chopper units.

Sludge/Slurry Pumps

Sludge and slurry pumps are suitable for applications containing many solids and abrasives. Comprising either a vortex or channel-type impeller made from Hard Iron or High Chrome Iron, these pumps are suitable for many applications.

Heavy-duty sludge pumps are available with a built-in Agitator, designed to aid the media into the volute of the pump. Applications include sand extraction, mines, industrial waste, dredging of rivers and harbors, and eluent containing solids, silt, and bentonite.

The Pump Supplies fleet contains the Grinder S Sludge pumps along with the Flynt heavy-duty 5000 series sludge pumps and the D Vortex range.
