The Bundle Extractor or bundle puller procedure is the first phase of one of the four processes for maintaining the heat exchanger, which has as its purpose the output of the tube bundle from its shell.

This first step is done by means of ad hoc machines called tube bundle extractors.

EMBARK has designed different types of extractors those equipped with cranes called aerial bundle extractors and those without this truck mounted, both for the same purpose but used for different cases based on the location of the heat exchanger.

For heights above 7 MT, the bundle puller used are airplanes, and by means of an extruder, cranes are positioned to the desired height.

Less than 7 meters long, EMBARK has produced self-propelled and truck mounted which allow not only to extract the tube bundle without the use of any external crane but to transport it autonomously by avoiding the use of the straddle carrier, saving so much time and money, so a single car for the first and second stages. 

BUNDLE PULLING SERVICES

Our bundle-extracting team is composed of highly trained operators with a deep knowledge of bundle-pulling techniques.

EMBARK can safely extract bundles with one remote operator, with no need for the use of slings with our aerial bundle extraction unit.

We can also clean the bundles using the following:

• Single lance tube cleaner to deeply clean the heat extractor. The consistent speed of both the backward and forwards of the lance delivers excellent cleaning results in the shortest time possible
• Multi-lance bundle cleaning with fast and efficient results for a large number of bundles in a restricted amount of time, particularly useful during shutdowns. This is a safe, fast, and cost-effective method for all inside bundles cleaning.  

Aerial Tube Bundle Extractor

• The Aerial Tube Bundle Extractor is suitable for use on all shell and Tube Heat Exchangers to pull/insert a max of up to 2.5 meters. Diameter and bundle of 60T & 12-meter length.
• It uses a special lifting frame, which is constructed in such a way that it has a maximum reach of up to 5.75 Mtr inside the technological structure
• The load is trimmed using an Aerial Balancing Cylinder which makes it easy to offload the bundles when the extractor is put down on the ground.
• The massive power of 50,000 kg is compensated against the shell flange and not against the structure

• Radiant is pleased to induct in their fleet of Tube Bundle Extractors the state-of-the-art Peinemann make Combi Lifter.
• This lifter can be used as an integral part of the Aerial Bundle Extractor (Main Lifting Frame) as well as a separate Bundle Lifter when disconnected from the Aerial Bundle Extractor.
• After pulling out a Heat Exchanger, the combi lifter is placed on the ground and the lifter can easily remove the Heat Exchanger without disconnecting the crane.
• The bundle can be easily lowered onto a trailer for transport to the cleaning area.
• The operator can open or close the bundle lifter by means of 6 hydraulic cylinders in order to adjust the clamps according to the size of the tube bundle.
• The side clamps are adjusted to the size of the tube bundle, the operator can lift the bundle lifter by means of a crane.
• The machine can lift the tube bundles from the extractors, trailers, rollers, or from the ground.
• As the bundle lifter holds several baffle plates on the bundle, damage to the tubes or tie rods is down to a minimum, making this a very safe, efficient, and time-saving tool.

BUNDLE PULLING SERVICES

Our range of tube bundle pulling, and cleaning services is all you need for safe and efficient tube cleaning. In the case of exchanges with removable tube bundles, mechanical removal of the bundles using the traditional method is often cumbersome, unwieldy, and time consumable. Also, it is manpower intensive. Life becomes much easier if one uses the hydraulic tube bundle extractor.

The Hydraulic Tube Bundle extractor is a self-contained unit that is lifted into position by just one crane. It does away with cumbersome rigs and gantries, which steal place, time, and infinite maintenance bills. Once in position and clamped to the shell flange of a heat exchanger, the extractor can exert a passive force of 80,000 kg. Enough to break out even the most obstinate tube bundle out into the open. Two highly trained men are all that is required to handle the extractor.

Extracting and replacing tube bundles with minimum effort.

Using the bundle extractor it is possible to free most bundles in as little as 30 minutes. Once a bundle is resting completely on the extractor, the load is trimmed using the special hydraulic balancing cylinder. After having used the extractor to pull one bundle it is used to push in a new bundle again, in minimum time.
